I still get up plenty early for sunrise, but I've learned to be more patient. I wait for the canyon to fill with light, so there aren't so many shadow. I'm not a big fan of BIG shadows because they have no color or detail. They usually don't tell me much, unless they're a silhouette.<br />
Here, I stepped back and composed with plenty of well-lit foreground. When a friend sat in front of me, I moved to position her in front of the shadow and waited for the decisive moment. <br />
She loved the photo of her. Much better than disturbing the moment by asking her to pose.
